Certification
In the last two years the small wind turbine industry has been working to introduce a product certification scheme to provide a base standard of performance and safety in order to inform and protect the end customer.
At Evance, we welcome the introduction of certification schemes as we believe it will improve standards across the industry.
In the UK this has resulted in the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) which uses the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) Small Wind Turbine Performance and Safety Standard. By installing a MCS approved product the customer is eligible for Feed-in Tariff, the UK incentive which rewards both generation and export of produced renewable energy.
In North America a similar scheme is being managed by the Small Wind Certification Council (SWCC), and Denmark has developed a scheme which focuses on the structural performance of both the towers and the blades.
